The Given Institute is a unique conference and event venue of the University of Colorado located in Aspen’s historic West End. As a private enclave, the Given Institute thrives as a place for intellectual exploration, educational seminars, and corporate retreats for groups up to 200. Created in the Bauhaus style in 1972 as a medical think-tank, the Given Institute features an interactive, United-Nations styled amphitheater, arranged with 4 concentric circles of seating, this is the only room of its kind in the nation. Our international architectural significance is further complimented with 5 distinct breakout rooms. Our beautifully landscaped 2 acre Elizabeth Paepcke gardens, overlooking the Hallam Lake nature preserve, round out the retreat experience. The Given Institute hosts many CU, CME, and medical and scientific conferences and events throughout the year. We also offer a year-round Public Lecture Series to the Roaring Fork Valley residents and are a remote CU Mini Med School site.

2009 Off-season meeting room rates start at $220 for 10 hours, and lodging can be found as low as $33/night within walking distance to the Given. Aspen is the global mecca of outdoor adventure and cultural stimulation. Literally 100’s of first-class dining and shopping prospects can be discovered only a few short blocks away. Whether you golf, ski, bike, hike, raft, take in an Aspen Music Festival or Jazz Aspen concert, it’s all within a few steps from the Institute.

We are the perfect setting for your conference, departmental meeting, retreat, wedding, or special event. Please call Brian Payntar Harris at 970.925.1057, ( or visit us at for more information.
