Sound Bites: Food, Music and Entertainment around Aspen

It’s still kicking. A somewhat dreary, sleet-filled weather week is breaking into a winter storm warning – our favorite Weather Channel alert here in Aspen – and we could see some fresh, fluffy slopes by morning and just in time for the official last weekend of Aspen’s ski season.

If you’re reading this, you may be contemplating a weekend warrior rampage or perhaps you’re here in town, wondering what a random spring Saturday might bring. Hit the slopes one last time, then take it around the roundabout for something a little different.

Emanuele Tozzi, composer, filmmaker and inspirational Italian import will be performing and screening his latest masterpieces at Steve’s Guitars in Carbondale, this Saturday night at 8:30 pm. Tozzi appeared at the Wheeler Opera House last summer, to an overwhelmed audience and a standing ovation. He’s contributed to the works of Placido Domingo and is all the rage on the international music circuit; the evening’s collaboration will feature Tozzi’s piano, with Chris Bank on saxophone and guitar, John Michel on drums and the Tozzi brothers’ award-winning short films to follow.

Feast your other senses on the way with a visit to Zheng Asian Bistro in either the Glenwood Meadows or Orchard Plaza in El Jebel. “Super Happy Fun Time” should coincide nicely with an 8:30 show time, featuring palette-pleasing prices on appetizers and exotic libations; try the ever-popular lettuce wraps, or the Vietnamese Spring Rolls, complemented by a signature Kimono Martini with Chambord, Stoli Vanilla and a splash of pineapple, or the Green Thing with hot sake and Ty-Ku Chinese liqueur.

Stay for a full dinner menu with spicy curry, all manners of Asian noodle masterpieces and assorted flavors – tofu, chicken, beef and seafood - for a well-balanced meal. Stellar tastes and great service, brought to you by Zheng Asian Bistro.

Then, bring it on back for some Sunday sunshine on Aspen Mountain. Your weekend adventure is complete.
